The President and the General
|
Abe Lincoln and Robert E. Lee wore coats of different color. Their positions were often opposite and their goals contrary - and yet they were both guided by a deep religious conviction.
In "The President and the General," William MacLee, a servant who remained with Lee even after having been granted his freedom, recalls both of these remarkable men. Using Lincoln's and Lee's own words, their trust in God's purpose becomes clear. And although victory on the battlefield was the immediate goal , the honor and salvation for all men was the heartbeat which drove the President and the General.
This selection for adults and teens, interpretively using Lincoln's and Lee's own words, reveals two prayerful and Godly Americans, far from the enemy combatants they are often colored to be.
