HISTORY OF HIS MEN REVEALED:

My secular world of drama through schools and community theatres provided a lifetime interest in theatrical education and performance. Little did I realize those years were creating the foundation for my craft which I would rely on as I stepped into the non-secular world, the world of ministry.

The theatrical skills were only half of the plan. I needed a heart that was right with God. Pro. 4:23 says “above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life”. In other words the attitude of my heart is the source for all that flows from me - including how I perform. That part of the plan was soon to follow.

It was perhaps ten years ago my son planted the seed about using my skills and interests more for the church. Oh for years I had done some things: directed an Easter pageant or Christmas program now and then; occasionally performed a Joseph or whomever was needed at the time. But even then my measuring stick for success had nothing to do with God. Success was determined by the amount and duration of the thunderous applause - the louder and longer it was the greater was my success. I was blind to the arrogance of those moments and unaware of that selfish attitude.

My wife soon joined my son in pushing me to do more. They provided materials, a work environment and constant encouragement. Soon my daughter became the third “you can do it dad” voice. The three of them had lit the fuse and …bang…off I went.

That was about five years ago and His Men Revealed Ministries began. Shortly after I was asked to create a piece to help a pastor. He needed an illustration for an upcoming message on the dangers of relying on “luck” rather than Jesus. I wrote it, we rehearsed it and performed it one Sunday. That day two people came forward and gave their heart to the Lord. I was happy, as I always am when anyone makes such a decision. However later the pastor laid one on me. He said one of those who had come forward said it was in part due to my illustration that day. They saw themselves in the “luck reliant character” of that play. Wow! Oh I know, the service was solid, the praise and worship were anointed, the message articulate - but MY contribution was singled out. Wow again! Just because of that person giving his heart to Christ. It was then that I knew my measuring stick for success had changed. Assisting others to turn toward Jesus. Advancing Jesus via the arts. Applause was to forever take a back seat. Wow a third time.

That’s it. That is the history which launched His Men Revealed. What a thrill it is for me to do something I love - and work for a treasure worth far more than accolades and applause. My interests, my family, my Lord - they have come together - they have inspired the existence of His Men Reveled Ministries.
